You’ll be dropped near the Kitsuma Peak Trailhead at the cross of Mill Creek Road and Royal Gorge Road. This gives you access to ride Kitsuma, Bernard Mountain, Point Lookout Greenway or downtown Black Mountain . (Map Link)

Kitsuma direct to Old Fort

Classic Kitsuma! You’ll start with a climb up some steep switchbacks before plunging down this rocky ridge line trail. 3 main climbs rise 890 vertical feet and your descent is over 1600 feet!

Average ride time is 45 minutes to 1.5 hours

Kitsuma w/Copper Ridge to Old Fort

Start with the classic Kitsuma downhill and add on the recently build Copper Ridge trail. Drop over 1700 feet in 8 miles of riding.

Average ride time is 1 to 1.75 hours.

Kitsuma/Bernard SUPER g

Bernard Mountain Trail is OPEN!

Begin the SUPER-g with a shuttle to the drop near Kitsuma. Ride Kitsuma and then climb the Point Lookout Greenway. Take a right on Mill Creek Road and descend approx. 2 miles of gravel to the Bernard Mountain Trailhead. From there ride 1.5 miles of old forest road to the start of Bernard Mountain Trail. Descend 3.2 miles. Don’t forget to smile.

16 miles, 7+ miles of downhill with almost 3,000 feet of descent!

Getting Back to Old Fort

NOTICE FEB - DEC 2024 - Bridge work on US 70 has closed Commerce Street. Just stay on Old US 70 all the way to town.

Trails from the Kitsuma/Bernard drop off end near the Old Fort Picnic Area. Head East on Old US 70 towards Old Fort. Road is mostly downhill (371 ft descent) and about 2.5 miles. Note the turns onto Orchard Street and Commerce Street.

Add on Copper Ridge Trail for 2 miles of single track! (the trail starts on the left just after “Wolf Ridge”)
